Project Overview

Fortec was engaged by Seymour Whyte Constructions to deliver the supply, installation, stressing and testing of 56 No 1000kN WL active permanent anchors at
Wellington Dam.

56 No Permanent Anchors installed using DHH drilling 178mm dia including fabrication, waterproof grouting, testing and stressing. Permanent anchors were
installed in hard rock strata overcoming subterranean ground water flow utilising Fortec owned tight access drilling equipment.

The permanent anchors are an integral part of a new foundation systems within the Dam spillway/water course.

Fortec works were completed incident free in surrounding sensitive natural environments and known indigenous heritage assets with Fortec owned specialist tight access plant and equipment maintaining a safe and functional work environment.

Fortec delivered our scope ahead of the forecast delivery program for the Client.

Scope of Works

  • Early Fortec involvement provided optimised design, construction and access solutions for the Client and End user.
  • Supply, drilling, installation and stressing of 56 No permanent ground anchors.
  • Supply and installation of pressure grouted ground anchors were installed in hard rock strata overcoming subterranean ground water flow.

  • 56 No Permanent Active anchors were carried out efficiently and remained LTI and NCR free.
  • The project was completed early and to client satisfaction.
  • Completed safely in an operational work environment with no disruption to water supply to downstream users.
