What we built together
Welcome to the Winter 2026 edition of Fortec’s InFocus magazine showcasing some of our latest projects and company news.
Fortec has continued to diversify its operations and in the last financial year has started a dedicated Remedial Division focusing on the rehabilitation and strengthening of concrete structures. We are well into our first project at Berths B&C for Fremantle Ports and actively pursuing a number of other opportunities for this division.
We have also just achieved our Federal Safety accreditation thanks to the hard work of Joanne Preece and Ted Simpson and this has opened up opportunities on federally funded projects.
Other key achievements in the last 12 months include the completion of our first slope stabilisation project in NSW and following on from the success of this project we have been awarded another 2 slope stabilisation projects for TfNSW.
Congratulations to Harsha & the NSW team in recently securing their largest project to date for the Design and Construction of 2 bridges for the Singleton Council one of which will be a 3 span cable stay footbridge.

Managing Director

Achieving this while working full time is a great accomplishment and a real testament to your dedication, discipline, and hard work.
Fantastic job, Michael!
Monthly BBQ
Each month, Fortec hosts a site BBQ meeting at the B and C Berth worksite in conjunction with the toolbox meeting. This brings together our team, client representatives, and senior management to review project progress, as well as safety and environmental performance.
As part of this initiative, we also recognise outstanding contributions through our monthly Safety and Performance Award.
Fortec’s recent award winners are:
Sebastien Deparpe (March): Recognised for his strong work ethic and leadership qualities. Starting as a labourer, Sebastien quickly distinguished himself and, within just two months, progressed to a Leading Hand role.
Darryl Webb (May): Recognised for his consistent hard work, proactive attitude, and commitment to safety. Darryl’s willingness to go above and beyond, while supporting his colleagues on site, makes him a highly valued member of the team.
Award-Winning Bridge Project
We’re incredibly proud to share that Fortec’s Nangetty–Walkaway Bridge Replacement Project has been recognised at the IPWEA WA Excellence Awards 2026, taking out Best Public Works Project > $5M – Regional
Led by Ceirran Knights, Fortec delivered innovative, lower-impact construction solutions that have “set a new benchmark for sustainable project delivery”.
This award is a strong reflection of the collaborative, innovative and solutions-focused approach taken by the entire project team.
A big thank you to Melissa Butler-Henderson and the broader team for the partnership and recognition throughout this journey.
Congratulations to everyone involved!
OFSC Accreditation Granted
We’re proud to be accredited under the Australian Government Building and Construction Work Health and Safety Accreditation Scheme.
This achievement recognises our strong safety systems and our commitment to protecting people on every project.
A First Fortec collaboration with MRWA’s UBIU
Fortec worked alongside Main Roads WA to complete urgent repairs to Bridge 0891.
Our team implemented a single-lane closure under shuttle flow while Main Roads provided their Under Bridge Inspection Unit (UBIU), allowing safe access to the underside of the structure.
This was the first time Fortec has had the opportunity to utilise the UBIU and it was a great example of contractor and client working together to deliver safe and efficient bridge maintenance.
Thanks to the Fortec team on site: Michael Nankiville, Luke Rigoll, Mavrick Cable, Sai Vishnu.

B Shed and B & C Berth Deck Upgrade Works
Fremantle Port Authority – WA
Marking the debut of our Remediation division, this project represents a significant milestone for Fortec.
The scope comprises demolition and replacement of sections of the berth deck and superstructure, including pile repairs and concrete deck replacement, alongside management of heritage elements including removal of historic bollards and railway, and protection of the B Shed structure, built in 1927.
These works extend the service life of the facility while enhancing structural capacity to meet future demands. Engineered for a minimum 25-year design life, the upgraded structure achieves deck load ratings of Class 15 for the B and C Berths, and Class 10 for the B Shed deck.
By prioritising reuse of existing piles and structural elements where practicable, the design supports long-term performance while reducing material use and promoting sustainable outcomes.
MORE
Level 9 Parapet
Fremantle Port Authority – WA
As one of the first projects delivered by our Remediation Division, Fortec Australia is currently undertaking works at Fremantle Ports’ iconic Administration Building, including the Level 9 parapet panel replacement. The project replaces deteriorated precast panels from the 1960s to enhance safety, durability and structural integrity, while preserving the building’s architectural character.
The works comprise:
- Design review and engineering coordination
- New precast panel fabrication and installation
- Structural remediation, waterproofing, and sealant works
- Signage reinstatement and safety management
With works taking place in a live, marine environment and at height, we’re working closely with our subcontractors to support the successful delivery of this important infrastructure upgrade.
Great Southern Bridges
Main Roads Western Australia – WA
Fortec is currently undertaking a timber bridge maintenance and repair project for MRWA across 13 timber bridges within the Great Southern Region of WA. The scope of works includes pier and abutment pile repairs, rock protection works, abutment repairs, corbel and stringer replacements, along with various other structural maintenance activities aimed at extending the service life and structural integrity of the bridges.
Macquarie Pass Slope Stabilisation Works
Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) – NSW
Fortec Australia is proud to be delivering its first major slope stabilisation project for Transport for NSW at Macquarie Pass on the Illawarra Highway (HW25), as part of broader road widening and safety upgrades.
Macquarie Pass presents challenging geotechnical conditions, with steep cut batters and highly weathered rock and soil profiles requiring ongoing stabilisation to protect this key transport corridor. The works involve the installation of soil nails, horizontal drainage and a shotcrete-lined catch drain, together with erosion control matting and a high-strength steel mesh facing system anchored by soil nails and vertical bar anchors. The completed system will provide long-term slope reinforcement, erosion protection and improved resilience of the highway infrastructure.
All works are being undertaken during night shifts to maintain uninterrupted access for road users, requiring careful planning and close stakeholder coordination.
This project is an important milestone for Fortec, showcasing our capability to deliver specialised geotechnical solutions in complex environments.
Walkaway Bridge
City of Greater Geraldton – WA
The Walkaway Bridge is a critical transport link for grain harvest, lime-sand, sand mining, and other community freight operations.
This bridge now provides essential connectivity between local industry and the commercial and industrial zones of the City of Greater Geraldton.
This was a fantastic collaboration with the City of Greater Geraldton and our many skilled subcontractors, whose expertise was vital to delivering the project safely, efficiently, and in a timely manner.
Stephenson Avenue
Main Roads Western Australia – WA
Fortec has successfully completed the final stages of the Stephenson Avenue Extension Project under its specialised Bridge Division. In September, Fortec carried out the final launch, lowering, and tilt of the Stirling Bus Bridge, followed by the grouting of the permanent bearings in November.
This technically challenging project marked several key achievements on both bridges, including: 30 launched segments, 4 slide operations, lowering operations, tilt operations, 50 permanent bearings grouted.
Using equipment acquired through Fortec’s international partnership with MK4, this project marked Fortec’s first use of the Eberspächer Lift and Push System, a significant milestone for the company.
This success is a testament to the dedication and expertise of everyone involved. A great team effort ensured the project was delivered safely and efficiently.
Great Southern Bridges
Main Roads Western Australia – WA
Fortec has recently completed the MRWA Great Southern bridge maintenance project, with the completion of upgrade and strengthening works on all 10 bridges.
On the back of the good work from Fortec’s site team, led by Wim, Sai, Murray, and Michael, we were awarded three fauna bridge crossings to construct in Albany as an extension to the existing project.
