Nangetty-Walkaway Road Bridge Project

Project Overview

The Nangetty-Walkaway Road Bridge over the Greenough River, built in 1964, is a vital City asset supporting heavy freight and community transport, but increasing use by modern RAV7 road trains raised concerns about its capacity and safety. The City of Geraldton awarded Fortec the contract to replace the ageing bridge to ensure the route remains safe and fit for current and future transport demands.

The replacement bridge is a three-span structure accommodating two 3.5m wide traffic lanes (7.0m carriageway) and two 1.0m shoulders. It serves as a critical
transport link supporting grain haulage, lime-sand and sand mining operations, and other regional freight movements.
